Summer Holiday Sessions

The summer holidays are an excellent time for relaxation, family trips and a break from the daily grind of school. However, they also present a unique opportunity for students to get ahead academically.

Over the summer, I am offering some one off sessions in English and maths.

You can expect:
  • Engaging, interactive and fun sessions
  • One off sessions so you only pay for what your child can attend
  • A review of key skills taught in their year group

Sessions for students going into Y3/Y4

Sessions for students going into Y5/6

  • For children going into Y3 and Y4
  • Focusing on the key reading skills: retrieval and inference 
  • Stimulus: using extracts from 'The Boy Who Grew Dragons' series by Andy Shepherd and film clips from Disney
  • On Thursday 25th July
  • 60 minute session (4:20-5:20pm)

  • For children going into Y3 and Y4
  • Focusing on grammar skills: subordinate clauses, adverbials and prepositions
  • Stimulus: a 'Whodunit?' mystery solving activity 
  • On Thursday 1st August
  • 60 minute session (4:20-5:20pm)

  • Best suited for children going into Y2, Y3 and Y4
  • Publishers recommended reading age of 7 years and up
  • 4 week long course
  • from Tuesday 6th August to Tuesday 27th August
  • 60 minute sessions (9:30-10:30am)

£12 per session

includes a copy of the book and resources pack (or opt out of this for £12 off the course price using code NOPACK at checkout)
  • For children going into Y3 and Y4
  • Focusing on writing skills: fronted adverbials (sentence openers) and description
  • Stimulus: creating an imaginary animal and then writing a descriptive paragraph of it
  • On Thursday 8th August
  • 60 minute session (4:20-5:20pm)

  • Focusing on maths skills: number and area/perimeter 
  • Stimulus: designing a zoo
  • On Thursday 15th August
  • 60 minute session (4:20-5:20pm)

  • For children going into Y3 and Y4
  • Focusing on punctuation: commas and direct speech
  • Stimulus: crack the code
  • On Thursday 21st August
  • 60 minute session (4:20-5:20pm)

  • For children going into Y5 and Y6
  • Focusing on writing skills: varying sentence structure and length 
  • Stimulus: a haunted house description 
  • On Tuesday 30th July
  • 60 minute session (10:35-11:35am)

  • Best suited to children going into Y5, Y6 or Y7
  • Publishers recommended reading age of 9 years and up
  • 4 week long course
  • from Thursday 1st August to Thursday 21st August
  • 60 minute sessions (5:30-6:30pm)

  • Focusing on punctuation: parenthesis and semi-colons/dashes  
  • Stimulus: crack the code
  • On Tuesday 6th August
  • 60 minute session (10:35-11:35am)

  • Stimulus: designing a theme park
  • On Tuesday 13th August

  • Stimulus: Using extracts from 'Impossible Creatures' by Katherine Rundell.
